Which mistakes are prone to occur during the injection molding process of plastic mold manufacturers?
Date: September 30, 2024
In injection mold engineering, errors that can easily lead to problems often occur. Injection molds are key tools used to manufacture plastic products. Through this technology, plastic materials can be injected into the mold to form the desired product structure and size. Therefore, the structure and quality of injection molds directly affect the quality of the final product. So, what common problems are prone to occur during the operation of injection molds? Let’s take a look together.
1. Difficulty in material removal from the gate:
During the injection molding process, it is easy to encounter difficulties in material detachment from the sprue. In injection molds, the grid glued sleeve may sag, causing cracks when opening the mold and damaging the product. In addition, operators may need to use a copper rod to strike from the nozzle head, which can seriously affect production efficiency. The main reason for this problem may be the deviation of the end point of the tapered hole and the inaccurate circumferential direction of the hole marking. In addition, materials that are too soft may cause deformation or damage to the small end of the tapered hole, and nozzle spherical curvature that is too small can also cause problems. To solve these difficulties, standard conical sprue sleeve processing difficulties should be adopted, and the reamer should be appropriately processed. In addition, the gate must provide a pull rod or sprue ejection mechanism.
2. Damage to the guide column:
The guide column mainly plays a guiding role in the mold to ensure that the forming surfaces of the core and cavity do not collide with each other. In some cases, guide column designs cannot be used as load-bearing or positioning components. For example, when the wall thickness requirement of plastic parts is uneven, the flow rate through the thick wall is relatively high, which may generate significant pressure. In addition, when the lateral reaction of the plastic part is asymmetric, the back pressure on both sides of the mold structure will also be unequal.
3. Dynamic template bending:
During the injection molding process, reverse pressure may be generated inside the mold cavity, but many workers often overlook this, resulting in the finished product not meeting the expected results. During injection, the molten plastic inside the mold cavity generates a huge reverse pressure, typically between 600-1000 kilograms per centimeter. Sometimes, mold manufacturers overlook this issue by changing the original design dimensions or using low-strength steel plates instead of dynamic templates. In the case of a top rod on the mold, the large span on both sides of the valve seat may cause the template to bend downward during injection molding.
Which mistakes are prone to occur during the injection molding process of plastic mold manufacturers?
Errors that may occur during the operation of injection molds may include difficulties in material removal from the gate, damage to the guide post, and bending of the moving template. Understanding and promptly addressing these issues is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of injection molds and improving product quality.
