(1) The industry of customized plastic molds is unbalanced, and the overall level of mold processing is relatively low. Although the products of individual plastic mold processing enterprises have reached a moderately high level, and some of their products have reached or are close to the world level, overall, there is still a significant gap between the precision, cavity surface roughness, production cycle, mold life and other goals of plastic molds and advanced levels abroad. The overall level, including production methods and enterprise management, still has a gap of more than 10 years compared to industrialized countries abroad.
(2) The technology and equipment for customizing plastic molds are outdated, and the organization and coordination are poor. Although some enterprises have advanced their technology and equipment in recent years, most of them still lag behind in plastic mold customization technology and equipment. More importantly, our company’s organizational coordination is poor, making it difficult to integrate or mobilize social resources for our own use, thus making it difficult to undertake larger projects.
(3) Most enterprises have weak capabilities in customizing and developing plastic molds. On the one hand, the share of technical personnel is low and their level is not high enough. On the other hand, there is little investment in scientific research and development, and more importantly, outdated concepts and insufficient attention to development.
(4) The backwardness of team management is even greater than the backwardness of technology. Technological backwardness is often easy to see, while team backwardness is sometimes difficult to realize. The distance in management between domestic and foreign mold enterprises is very significant, and the problems caused by the gap distance are often more serious than the technical distance.
(5) The demand in the industry is strong, and it is difficult to keep up with the development of customized plastic molds. The supply-demand imbalance is also difficult to handle, and the situation of supply and demand shortage will continue for a period of time, especially in the high-end products.
(6) The handling of system and talent issues still requires time. In the socialist market economy and the process of economic globalization, competitive professions, especially those that rely on special users and require single piece production like molds, still find it difficult for many enterprises to adapt to the ever-changing market system and operating mechanism. The quantity and quality level of talents cannot keep up with the rapid development of the profession. Although efforts are being made in various regions to address these two issues, it will take time to obtain better solutions.
