The trial molding steps for injection mold processing by mold manufacturers are crucial in the production of plastic products. To effectively reduce time waste during mass production, it’s essential to promptly adjust and control processing conditions and identify suitable temperature and pressure settings. Establishing a standardized trial molding procedure for injection molds can help create routine practices that enhance production efficiency.

1. Before starting the trial mold process,

carefully check that the plastic material in the barrel is correct and properly dried as per regulations. Clean the feed line meticulously to prevent poor-quality plastic or impurities from entering the mold, which could cause it to jam. Additionally, verify that the temperatures of both the feed line and the mold are suitable for processing the raw materials.

2. Adjust the pressure and injection volume,

but before making any adjustments to the control conditions, check if the finished product has any flash or if certain cavities have not cooled completely. Minor changes in the fill ratio can cause variations in the filling effect.

Once the machine and mold conditions are stable, wait for a while—medium-sized machines may require more than 30 minutes. Utilize this time to inspect potential issues.

3. The time for the screw to move forward should not be shorter than the solidification time of the material at the gate,

or else the weight of the finished product may decrease, impacting its performance. When the mold is heated, the screw movement time should be increased appropriately to ensure proper compaction of the finished product.

4. Adjust processes reasonably to minimize the total processing cycle,

ensuring maximum production efficiency. New adjusted conditions should operate for at least 30 minutes to stabilize before producing a batch of full samples. Mark the date and quantity on the samples and organize them according to cavities for testing stability and establishing reasonable control tolerances.

Measuring and recording the continuous samples is necessary, especially important dimensions should be measured after the samples have cooled to room temperature. Compare dimensions of each cavity sample, taking note of product size stability, any trends in dimension variation, and whether the deviations fall within tolerance limits.

If the finished product dimensions are stable and processing conditions are normal, check if the quality of the output from each cavity is acceptable and within the allowable tolerance range. Record the numbers of cavities that consistently produce above or below the average size to verify that the dimensions of the injection mold are correct.

By strictly following the above steps and procedures in the trial molding of injection molds, an efficient and smooth trial process can be ensured, leading to the production of stable-quality plastic products.
