Precautions -selecting casting mold materials plastic mold
Casting molds refer to the models used to obtain qualified parts, which are usually handcrafted, commonly made of wood or plastic, while mechanical molds often use metal models. So, how do we choose casting mold materials? Next, the editor of Shenzhen Mold Company will talk about the things to pay attention to when choosing casting mold materials.
Selection of Casting Mold Materials:
1. Production batch:
When the production batch of stamped parts is large, the materials for the working parts of the mold, including the convex and concave molds, should be selected from high-quality and wear-resistant mold steel. For other process structure parts and auxiliary structure parts of the mold, the material of the parts should also be correspondingly improved. When the batch size is not large, the requirements for material performance should be appropriately relaxed to reduce costs.
2. Performance of stamped materials and usage conditions of mold parts
When the material being stamped is harder or has greater deformation resistance, the convex and concave molds of the stamping die should be made of materials with good wear resistance and high strength. When drawing stainless steel, aluminum bronze die can be used because it has good adhesion resistance. The guide pillar and guide sleeve require wear resistance and good toughness, so low-carbon steel surface carburization quenching is often used.
3. The material performance should consider the cold and hot processing performance of the material and the existing conditions of the factory.
4. Using micro deformation mold steel to reduce machining costs.
5. For molds with special requirements, mold steel with specialized performance should be developed and applied.
6. The selection of mold materials should be determined based on the usage conditions of the mold parts, and low-cost materials should be selected to reduce costs while meeting the main conditions.
