Plastic mold manufacturers determine the cooling time of injection molded parts during the injection molding process
Date: September 21, 2024
During the injection molding process, the cooling time of the injection molded parts accounts for the vast majority of the entire injection molding production cycle, which proves the importance of cooling for injection molded parts. If the injection molding process is cold and poor, it often leads to warping deformation or surface defects, affecting the dimensional stability of the product. Therefore, it is necessary to arrange injection molding, compression, and cooling time reasonably to improve the quality and productivity of injection molded products. When we talk about cooling time, we refer to the time between the plastic melt and the injection mold cavity, as well as the time when the mold is removed. The time standard for opening and removing parts is often based on the fact that the parts have solidified sufficiently, have a certain strength and stiffness, and there is no deformation or cracking when opening the mold for ejection.

The results indicate that even when using the same material for injection molding, the cooling time varies with changes in wall thickness, melt temperature, demolding temperature of the molded part, and injection mold temperature. Therefore, it is still difficult to calculate the cooling time correctly, and only under appropriate assumptions can the correct cooling time be calculated.
At present, the three reference standards for cooling time in injection molding are, on the one hand, the temperature of the thickest part of the central layer injection molding of the wall component, and the time required for the plastic to cool below its thermal deformation temperature; On the other hand, it refers to the average temperature inside the workpiece when it is cooled to the predetermined temperature for molding the product; The third aspect is that the cooling time for injection molding can be based on the temperature at the thickest position of the mold, which is the time required to cool below the melting point of the object.
