Where does the gas generated during the production of injection molds come from? What are the hazards?

Injection molding is a technical task, and exhaust is also a relatively important issue because hot air is easily generated during molding and pouring. If it is not discharged from the mold cavity in a timely manner, it can easily affect the quality of the mold. Therefore, exhaust is also a relatively strict task during injection molding. The sources of gas include air left in the mold cavity itself, moisture in certain raw materials that has not been dried and removed, evaporation into steam at high temperatures, gases produced by the high-temperature decomposition of unstable plastics during injection molding, and volatile gases produced by certain additives in plastic materials or through mutual chemical reactions.
Poor exhaust can bring the following hazards: during the injection molding process, the molten material will replace the gas in the mold cavity. If the gas is not discharged in time, it will cause difficulty in filling the molten material, resulting in insufficient injection and inability to fill the mold cavity; Under a certain degree of compression, the removal of unobstructed gas will create high pressure in the cavity and penetrate into the plastic, resulting in quality defects such as pores, voids, thinning of tissue, and cracking; Due to the high compression of the gas, the temperature in the chamber rises sharply, leading to the melting and decomposition of surrounding plastic components, as well as the carbonization phenomenon of partial combustion. It is mainly found in the convergence of two melted gate flanges; Due to poor gas emissions, the melt velocity entering each cavity is different, which can easily form flow marks and melt marks, reducing the mechanical properties of plastic parts; Due to the obstruction of gas inside the cavity, the filling speed is reduced, the molding cycle is affected, and the efficiency of tax collection and management is lowered.
