The wear resistance of the mold is crucial. The surface glossiness and accuracy of injection molded parts directly depend on the wear resistance of the mold cavity surface. Especially when glass fibers, inorganic fillers, and pigments are added to plastics, the plastic melt will flow along with these substances in the flow channels and cavities, resulting in increased friction on the cavity surface. If the mold material is not wear-resistant, it will wear out quickly, thereby affecting the quality of plastic parts.
2. The dimensional stability of injection molded parts is also an important consideration factor. The temperature of the injection mold cavity should be kept above 300 degrees Celsius, and it is best to use materials that have been tempered to ensure structural stability and avoid dimensional changes. In order to shorten the production cycle and improve efficiency, mold materials must be easy to process into the required shape and accuracy, especially for complex structured mold parts.
3. Good polishing performance of injection molded parts is also crucial. Normally, injection molded parts need to have good glossiness and surface condition, so the roughness of the cavity surface must be controlled within a very small range. In order to meet this requirement, the surface of the mold cavity must be finely processed, such as polishing and grinding, and the selected steel should not contain coarse impurities and pores.
4. Heat treatment is a key step in improving the performance of materials. Therefore, many molds require heat treatment processing, which may result in changes in mold size. Therefore, when selecting mold materials, it is best to prioritize machinable pre hardened steel to ensure the stability and service life of the mold.
The manufacturing process of injection molds requires comprehensive consideration of factors such as wear resistance, dimensional stability, polishing performance, and heat treatment to ensure the production of high-quality plastic products.
